Stephen, Three Innovation Distinctions: Great series, thank you.

Diversity seems so important to me as it just has to be a source of provocation when addressing a challenge. Input from outside the “normal mindset” of the challenged group has to be a stimulus to different perspectives.

Hey Steve,

Diversity in my world includes bringing the outside in. It rocks my world. It's uncomfortable but when embraced changes everything. It's not only changed the non-profit I lead but its changed me.
I wrote about it at: http://leadershipfreak.wordpress.com/2010/01/08/trajectory/

Thanks for your work,

Leadership Freak,
Dan Rockwell

Hi Steve!
you are so right with "mixing" up the audience, or any working group to generate more ideas and innovations.
I have been very frustrated when I was working for international consulting co. where any creative brainstorming sessions, interesting personal development courses were available just for "managers"...even tough I was longing to share my ideas and learn from the process, the doors were closed...so again, same people, same atmosphere, same thoughts, over and over again...my knocking on this door was never heard, so i have quit my job. sad thing is that many creative people will not even think of knocking and involving themselves into innovation process as they think it is not yet time to be creative...nonsense! we ALL were born creative, just no one ever reminded us we have it within...

and one more thought,
just few hours ago, i spoke to friend of mine about TED conferences, that how wonderful it would be to attend one, but as we are not executives, we cannot afford to pay the fees...which is again pity as it would be really enriching for the event to have diverse audience.

cheers from Slovakia;-)
