Outsource and partner are not similar. Outsource might be non-zero-sum, but partner is definitely zero-sum. The former might free up managerial focus, the latter definitely consumes managerial focus. Globalism will only work if you can stop wasting managerial focus, and start using that managerial focus to create new categories that are a long way from being outsourced.

Stephen - so simple, yet so effective. Being a sole practioner, I could easily relate to it. It has helped me focus on my passion and skills and 'outsourced' other activities. Ultimately it results in the growth of the business.

Thanks.

I Stephen,

I would like to know if I can use your matrice of passion and skills (of course I would mention your name and book) to explain in one article for my quebecors farmers.

I am now reading your book and I appreciate a lot. Even my young son of 18 years old, is very enthousiast of this way of thinking that challenge our paradigms.

Thanks

Inspiring and practical way to maximise what I like to think of as ROE (Return on Energy). The "freebox thinking" comment by Mary is also wonderful.

Thank you Stephen for this clear, complete and concise way of viewing the daunting world of "solo-preneurship". I know all too well how easy it is to steer off course due to microfocusing in one area that I feel most comfortable in. This offers a way to look at the areas I'm not so comfortable in and make a choice to handle them by either outsourcing, partnering or rethinking. Simple and Great stuff! It's the kind of thing I'd call "freebox thinking"!

[...] Other concepts Michael and Stephen discuss include “Use a Compass, Not a Map” where you find the intersecting point between passion (what you love to do), skills (what you are good at), and value (what creates value – for you and others). If you can achieve the right amount of passion, skills and value you can be successful in whatever it is you want to achieve. [...]
